Hello everyone! I have a freshly rebuilt Ilmor MV625 V10 for sale and ready to drop in your boat. I'm selling because unfortunately I do not have the funds to complete the build (everything else besides engine).. The price is exactly what I paid for the engine and rebuild, minus shipping and travel. My loss is your gain..
I bought the engine disassembled and contacted Nick @Ilmor for a rebuild. Nick referred me to Sterling Engines, who is partnered with Ilmor to provide factory like rebuilds for the Ilmor V10s.
This engine was actually rebuilt by a tech at Sterling Engines who originally built the Ilmor V10s when he worked for Ilmor. Parts were sourced from Ilmor and Prefix to provide exact factory quality. This engine is literally as close to being new from the factory as you can get. Sterling Engines left no stone unturned and gave me a world class rebuild. Rebuild was completed on 10/29/2025.
Work done:
-Polished crank
-Brand new mated and balanced set of OEM oversized pistons and OEM rods
-Cylinders honed to perfect clearances
-All new valves, valve seals, and springs
-All new bearings, gaskets, filters, belts, etc..
-Headers pressure tested and passed
-Valve job/valve seats machined
-Sea pump rebuilt
-Alexi/Boostpower windage tray
-Every single part measured and cleaned to ensure factory specs
-Dyno break-in and testing (647hp and 620tq)
This engine will fit into most boats that have a typical Mercruiser BBC. I'm sure they fit in others too. Attached I have the MV625 dimensions and overlay compared to a Mercruiser 496. This engine comes COMPLETE with engine management/wiring and the fuel system with fuel pump. The wiring plugs right in to the Mercruiser harness to power your gauges. You don't need new digital gauges or throttle! It's all analog. Just bolt in and go!
Typical swap to a Mercruiser BBC boat:
-Move engine mounts forward with Imco adjustable engine mount kit 04-1296
-Modify exhaust pipes since the MV625 headers sit further back
-Move throttle cable (Some cables may need to be lengthened)
-Install return line to fuel tank if you don't already have one
-Get a bellhousing to match your drive (Mercruiser, Imco, etc..). Nick at Ilmor has these. I can give the buyer contact info.
If you contact Nick at Ilmor he has been fantastic with providing any part, data, or diagram needed. No issues getting parts between Ilmor and Prefix. The MV10 marine engines share a lot of parts with the standard automotive engine and parts are plentiful. These are 700+ hour engines when serviced properly. Lots of great reviews on power and fuel consumption over BBC engines. Owners manual is available on Ilmor's website under the "Warranties/Manuals" section.
The engine is located in Charlevoix, MI. I can possibly deliver within a certain distance, and I can arrange shipping. Cash preferred (Cash, cashiers/certified check, cryptocurrency). I would be interested in a partial trade for a Bravo 1 XR drive or Imco drive, Mercury HP transom, or full hydraulic steering kit. I would also entertain full or partial trades for something I could get money back out of if somebody doesn't have the cash (Vehicles, toys, tools, land in Michigan, etc..)
Please let me know if you have any questions!
