if I am reading the comparison chart right then 98e would be roughly our 93 so I would say that you are about at the limit for a N/A motor at that compression for safety reasons. I would think adding boost would be a bad idea without lowering the compression but that is just my opinion.

I'm at 10.25:1 on my N/A BBCs and I have to use 93 oct exclusively. I suspect running 10:1 static compression with forced induction will likely cause detonation.

Yup, way too much compression.
You want to be closer to 8.5:1
Mercury 1075sci for example is 7.9:1

Jani, there's a few issues with using a blower on your combo. Yout cam likely had too much duration...adding a blower will push the HP/TQ peaks up by about 500 rpm, making the cam even worse for your required rpm band.

Your intake manifold injector locations may not be optimally placed...if I remember correctly? Port injected blower doesn't have the latent heat removal from an above rotor injected system.

Your 10:1 CR is a big issue with marine sourced fuel.

10:1 with 5 psi boost would give you an effective CR of 13.4:1. It would be nothing but trouble for you. The chart suggests not exceeding 12:1 effective with street 92 Oct (RON+MON/2). Trying to retard the timing would be hard on the exhaust valve...and likely heat it up to the point of being the cause of detonation or pre-ignition.

Not to mention, your BSFCs would climb up, making you less efficient overall.
