I had a 30 Spectre with 300XS’s years ago - great boat. RIP.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the people affected by Jay's passing.

Jay was a great guy and racer at heart. We were fortunate to have two of his boats new and have another one currently. I remember telling Pete that I was buying a new 30 in 1995 "I didn't want it coming to him from anyone else" and he told me-you're going to break it. We never did break it and the boat was at an attainable price point (Jay built a bunch of 30' outboards back then). The lawsuit years really took a toll on him and cost him a bunch both personally and financially but he had the drive to continue and chase a different side of the market that he was forced into. I always gave him respect for that determination and the way he treated me on both of my deals. Fair warning was his personal rig and he was just one of us when he was running it. R.I.P. Jay

Default Great Man

Jay was indeed one of the Good Guys in the performance arena. He built outstanding hulls and were quality builds at an affordable price point with reasonable lead times. His roots in HP boats goes back to his LTV Laser and his ability to run it to the edge. Rest in Peace Jay…

He was a great buy and his boats were bullet proof.
Just like the narrator says-
"Special thanks to Jay Pilini"
