Extended Warranty on 575SC?
#1
Frank Marchone just called me to give me a heads up on two 386s they have coming in on trade. One of then has extended warranties on the 575SCs until 2005. Details of the warranty extender are not known at this time, but I wanted to ping the board and see if anyone had heard of this before?
One thing that sold me on my 260 is the Passport Extended Warranty on my HP500EFI. Even though my one problem was not covered under warranty, (oil pan leaking around dipstick tube), I know I have some safety net if I nuke the motor. It was a major factor in buying my boat, and keeping it stock so I don't tear it up. I want to know more about this warranty on the 575s.
I really want the new 525EFIs, but if I can save a bunch by buying a used boat with the above motors... hmmmm.... the wheels are cranking!!

I sincerely doubt this is a Mercury Warranty. I would be floored if it was. I am not sure this is offered by Passport either, but they could be. i just want to know what everyone else has seen or heard.
My Passport Warranty was transferred from the previous owner to me.

I didn't think Merc gave warranties on Blue motors.

My 2001 Formula has the extended warranty through Passport. The warranty might be a sales point for a potential buyer. My opinion of it is that based on 2 broken drives, 2 trim switches, and a broken stereo, it's worthless. They did pay a little on the stereo. Mercury did step up to the plate and made good on some of the drive parts but the parts not covered as well as the labor was still a big bill that I had to pay. Seems that since I drove the boat like an offshore boat nothings covered...Imagine that... an offshore boat in the ocean that gets some air. Had a Q-guard warranty on a Fountain a couple of years ago which actually paid for something.

Mercury doesn't sell extended warranty on 575's,Passport does. Passport gets maligned on the internet quite a bit, but it can have some pretty good points, you just have to read their fine print VERY carefully. I have had good luck and bad luck with them, overall I have to say it is much better tahan no warranty, and the costs are fairly low. It does not cover the actual blower itself, tho, does cover the internal engine parts subject to their fine print. I have found that they will do almost anything to deny a claim but if you understand their parameters and file a claim properly, they do pay,tho it is sometimes frustrating.Again, better than nothing, just don't expect Merc Q'Guard service, the ultimate warranty, just not available on 575's

Brian,
You moving up to a 38? Work must be good, new truck and possible new boat? Next you need to get to FL so you can enjoy it year round. Hey the SMLBA sent me a registration for for the Poker run in 2003, they already have boats signing up and are going to limit it to 75 boats again. Just a heads up
