Default Repeal of 2009 EPA Greenhouse Gas Endangerment Finding

How does the repeal of the 2009 EPA Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Endangerment Finding affect us in the marine world. I have a 2015 catalyzed engine and being able to do anything to it is a bit frustrating to say the least. I would think this repeal would allow us to go back to pre 2009 standards allowing companies like Whipple to once again sell tunes for our engines. Any thoughts on this?

The rule is for CO2 emissions only. I think for marine most of the standards have to do with NOx.

But I am on the industry source side and the rule change isn't effecting them.

My understanding from listening to the press conference yesterday was it was aimed at more NOx regulations and how the 2009 standards overstepped what congress passed a standards. Most of the catalyzed engines came after the 2009 standard was set. When I asked why marine engine ECU cannot be tweaked but automotive ECUs can, I was told it was a deal the marine industry made to eliminate the need to emissions tests, like cars have to do. However, that was also addressed in the conference yesterday, and they stated they will not be requiring testing after the fact. It seems all the old reasons why Merc locked the ECU's is now gone, or am I missing something?

Vehicles get more and more efficient every year..not like when i had my old 79' blazer with a carbed 350 that burned your eyes when you stood too close to the back end of the truck!
They go after the stupidest things to complain about...yet don't bother with things that would actually make a difference like....oh lets say AVgas that's leaded! yeah still using that up in the sky and everyone is breathing that in daily but that's OK

cars only make up around 15% of the co2 put in the air by man so not a big deal to repeal some of the overly strict standards some red tape bureaucrat came up with. the reason all the lunatic fringe climate control freaks get off on cars is because they are seen every day by every body so they are an easy target. how often do you see an ocean tanker or freight train? how often do you see a car? it is not about results, it is about attention and control.

That's exactly what I fu cking voted for!!

Any clue what this does to Diesel PDF? I figured he was killing that $hit off too.

Classic liberal “genius”: “Let’s force diesel trucks to have cleaner emissions. Brilliant plan—we’ll make the engine breathe its own exhaust fumes so the oil turns into black sludge faster, forcing oil changes earlier or engine damage.. Then we’ll mandate gigantic, hideously expensive catalytic converters stuffed with rare-earth metals we have to beg China for. Oh, and while we’re at it, let’s invent a magical blue fluid (DEF) that has to be chemically manufactured (emissions), shipped across the country (more emissions), and packed in billions of single-use plastic jugs that end up choking landfills forever.

Peak liberal brainpower: create ten new problems to “solve” one, make everything more expensive, screw over working people, virtue-signal about the planet, then act shocked when freight costs explode. Absolute morons with zero functioning neurons.
