Looking at purchasing a 1990 24 Superboat with a 2016 Merc 300XS, 20in mid and Sport Master lower unit 1.75. 160hrs. Seller says top speed is ~65 mph.

Before I buy it, I’m trying to understand:

• What speeds are typical for this hull with a 300XS?

• What prop/pitch are you guys running?

• Is a Sport Master the right lower or would a Torque Master be better for more top speed.

• What setback / propshaft height works best?

Just trying to see how much I can get out of this boat and what set up would be best.

Seller is being honest. Probably running a 24 pitch. Jump over to the screamandfly.com and you find more info and many other outboard experts that can help. The 24s are great boas, more fun with twins tho.

Is it a center console or a sport? Torque master would be better. Should run over 70, the sport is faster. Sport with a 300xs set-up right should be 75 to 77
