Replacing the impellor on my 99 502, and need the torque for the bolts that go through the plastic housing. Don't want to crack it. Thanks for any info

Tight will do. The o-ring gasket will take care of any leaks pretty well. Snug them up good, but not too tight. I had one strip out on me, pain in the ass to fix in the field!!!!

Use the ones that go THRU with a nut on the end to get the housing tight. Do these three first!!!! I think it's three....been a little while.

**Thanks H2Xmark, I corrected it. Whats scary is that was directly out of the Mercruiser manual, but found the correct table in another place that was correct. There is no excuse for bad information and that pisses me off. Thank you for catching it before someone screwed up by using the wrong specs~

hate to tell you this but 41 newton meters is 30 foot pounds not inch pounds, your chart has it in the wrong place, I would have said the seapump bolts torque to 15 to 20 foot pounds, 30 might be a little to much, but Mercury should know, just wanted to point out that error on newton meters versus inch pounds

Simply tighten snug, and do so in a pattern will suffice. As was mentioned use a new O ring each time, and check to see that the small O ring on the front of the pump is also in place (the smaller one seals the shaft.) While some folks do it, I wouldn't use a new impeller in a used plastic housing, and vice-verce.
If it is your first time changing the pump, note where your intake and pressure side hoses were on the pump (rotation RH or LH makes a difference. Nothing wrong with using masking tape and marking top and bottom on the hoses to help you at reinstall time.

I did mark the hoses, was just worried about overtightening the bolts and cracking the housing when everything heats up. Thanks for all the info
