I don't think there are any restrictions as to size, power or drive choice. The classes are broken down by speed.

Allen, try this, it's very accurate. Basically, prop pitch x gear reduction x RPM x slip factor x hull drag.

do they radar you for top speed???
how do you depict what class??
say my boat does 80 can top oout higher on a perfect day but 80 is the normal
or do they use what someone said about a theory calculation?
