I have a 82 trs with a 330 I am building a new motor I wanted to know what the max safe horse power i can put to it

A TRS will handle about anything that you can build an '82 Merc 330 into. The weak point would be the transmission. If its a B/W unit; no prob. If it's a MercTrans II then you will want to have it professionally gone over and upgraded if you plan to end up with much over 450-475 HP. I've been pushing over 500 HP through mine for a few years.
