Default Anyone know this Scarab?

Found a boat I may be interested in. Wondering if anyone knows the boat? It's in the Raleigh, NC area. May be interested in having someone take a look if possible?

It's a 1997 29' Scarab.

Yes it does. I'm trying to stay away from twin 5.7s. Owner says boat is in EXCELLENT condition. 2nd owner. (first owner was his best friend)

He said no hour meter though. I have seen several of these without hour meters. Is this common? My 96 Scarab has one. I'll just have the motor scanned to find out for sure. I've heard this isn't a big deal. Someone please tell me if I'm wrong.

GLH, thank you for the feedback.

OK, looks like no one else knows the boat.

Anyone in the Raleigh area that may be able to take a quick look and get a general impression of the boat? Willing to pay for your time.

How about surveyors in the area that anyone would recommend?

How much is he asking for the single? There is a nice 29 with the twin small blocks at Full Tilt for less than 60. I have ridden in a twin 300 boat and it flew! Pretty good gas mileage too.

insptech,

I almost hate to say how much he is asking. I'll say, but if anyone from OSO buys it the bat will come out, let it be known!!! He is asking $39,999.00. Cleanest I've found in that year range. Came across a couple in Alabama that are salt water boats for a good price, but not interested.

I have found a lot of twin small block boats about 10k less then the one you mentioned. I am really leaning towards a single. If I wanted to go dual I would step up to a 29 Outlaw, 32 Sunsation, Fastech, or Sonic. I would rather have big blocks than small blocks. I think resale would be a little better. I realize that speed on this boat will not be outrageous, but my concern is room not speed. The 26' I have right now isn't much on cabin room. That's my main concern. Besides, there's always a Whipple.

I will take a look at the one you mentioned though.

105 mph...thanks for that info. Still seems a little odd for something that new.

Anyone else feel free to chime in on opinions. I know I give out my share that aren't worth much.

Here's another one I found in Florida. Twin Small blocks. Repo. 1998 asking 40k. Broker said real rough boat.

I like the fairing and graphics though. Is there anyway to put a fairing like this on the 29 I'm looking at?

A friend of mine has a 1995 29 scarab with twin 377's supercharged. Boat has around 100 hours total and maybe 20 on the motors. With around 1100hp and does upper 90's
if you dare. It is for sale at around $65,000. Fresh water only.
Cheap speed. Email me if you want his number.
