Unhappy APBA single vendor engine program for Super Cat??

APBA Offshore just announced they are going to announce a single engine vendor program for Super Cat class.

Sounds like another Mercury deal... soon you'll have to buy your boat from Mercury... or Vortec...

Parity is good to a point but this is getting ridiculous!

Can anyone explain to me how this helps the sport??? I thought Super Cat was supposed to be the premier Cat Class, the biggest, best, & most innovative. What's next, limiting top speed?

Top speeds are already underwhelming. They are not even averaging 100mph in most races under the current rules.

During the Wed. race in Key West, it was obvious the lead boats were WOT the entire race (yes, cornering). Interestingly, UIM C1 boats run considerably higher (average & top) speeds.

Just curious,

How many of you complaining actually finance a supercat to race?

The odds are that the decision is based on a collaborative effort from the racers in that class to minimize extensive R&D efforts by a select few in the category. (and "possibly" to minimize the tech required after each race.)

Is that the case??? Is it a collaborative effort? Just curious...would like to hear from the boat owners themselves.
