Unhappy Insurance UP - Florida rates really UP

I’m headed back to Florida for a month and just got my insurance bill. Up 25% $1200 to $1600 Cdn. The Florida rider went from $250 to $1000, up 400%. The deductible doubled from $800 to $1600. WTF or should I say WTC. Gouging at its best. No claims in 5 years as well. Any ideas!

Default FL Insurance

Fl is quite expensive.
I pay $1650 for my '99 Pantera 28 twin, on a trailer. That was the best rate I could find. I have the coverage through Progressive...

Check out this month's powerboat...Florida and Cali are the highest, bar none.

I'm awaiting my renewal any day now(March actually)...I'm getting skeered....

Currently, I pay 1300/yr for a 25'er with a single stock motor, perfectly clean record. (And that's the best I could find )

This Fl. Insurance thing is a rip-off. Boat is in it's own corp name. When they wanted $6000 a year for big motors and over a 100 mph I spent some money on a better halon system and kept the 6k. I'm not worried about my boat being stolen(inside warehouse, very secure) as far as sinking, oh well, I don't play in the gulfstream where it is 700 feet deep. If it sinks I'll fix it. I am willing to bet it won't. So lets see, I had my boat since 1999, hmmm thats 4 years at 6k a year. I'll take the risk. Won't pay, cause I m sure if there was a claim they wouldn't either.

Default Discounts..

My insurance was cheaper for the fact that the boat is on a trailer, and is stored 2+ miles from the ocean..
And, I "don't" have through hull exhaust, at least not that I'm aware of...

Not just boat ins. It is all outrageous in Fl. Dr.s are moving to other states due tothe high malpractice rates. The Legislature needs to step in. My thoughts are make the loser responsible for "ALL" costs associated with a meaningless lawsuit.

Jeff,s its not so much the boat - what if you hit someone else & kill them, hope you have deep pockets when they sue you. Or another popular senario what if you eject someone or - someone sustains serious injury aboard your boat, hit submerged objects- insurance covers alot more than just your boat. - Liability is where the $$premium is at
something to think about? my .02

Gator you are right the Florida Insurance is crazy A Example on Oakland Park Blvd (Fort Lauderdale) they took a Damm Restaurant and made a “Pain Relief Center” out of it Haitians getting neck braces there on an assembly line basis...

That’s why we pay so much for all our Insurance and if I were a Doctor I would leave the state also the Malpractice Insurance rates !! again who pays for these 100 million dollar Suits …. Us in the end.
