I have stock 1997 454 Mag carb. I am working on a deal for the blowers and carbs from a pair of Merc 525sc's. Wieand 177's and Holley Dominator 1050's. I am planning on installing inconnel exhaust and stainless intake valves, 525 head gaskets and intake gaskets. With the stock cam and "forced induction" exhaust (no options allowed with blowers) Desktop dyno is predicting 527hp@6000. I am considering changing the cams. I would like to use the stock roller lifters with the new cams. Any recommendations? Is it worth the expense? I will be running stock exhaust for a while. Besides valves,gaskets,t-stat housing, and exhaust, any recommendations for other parts that should be changed?
I was thinking perhaps better cams would offset the power loss of stock exhaust. Stock 525 cams used flat tappet lifters, I want to stay roller.

Check with the guys at 800-448-1223 for Ferrea Super Alloy valves. Stock roller lifters are only good to .335 lobe lift with standard base circle. 0.335 x 1.7=.5695 lift on your cam. Check out the Comp Cam website, they have several cams below that lift for stock lifters. See 01-418-8 XR282HR.

The actual entire part number on the Crane "741" cam as it is being refered to is; 139741 .... And yes it is a very good cam! I have duration specs almost exactly to the "T" with my Crower cams in my 540's engines only mine are on 114* lobe seps.

I think I told you wrong ,,a 454 and small blower I feel the 731 will destroy the 741 and do tons better on fuel ,,,sorry

Mark, that number is for GenV. It is the cam for use on pre roller cam motors. The #4 cam (#168741)in the link I posted is for the GenIV, which is what G4B's '97 motor is.
I tend to agree with Bobby on this one. I would go with the 731 on a 454. I was only listing the correct cam # in question, and not my opinion, but since Bobby brought it up 1st..........
