I am going to install a set of kiek indicators&cables for my trim tabs on my boat. There are currently none on the boat looking for pics or ideas for custom mounting, location, etc.

I'm not sure what the Kiekhaefer stuff goes for but i think the Gaffrig stuff is cheaper.....anyway heres an install i just did not too long ago on a 28' Cig....I had a custom plate made for the top of the dash to hold all the gauges, trim/drive switches and the indicator panel

looks awsome, wish I had that kind of mounting space I may have to mount horizontally, Pricewise I got a good deal on them, I got them from a fellow OSOer used.

Hey Martin, do you have a pic of your dash layout to post so we can get a better idea?? Depending on your space you could custom mold and mount a fiberglass pod to hold your indicators You can make a real wickid looking pod....make it look like it is growing out of a bulkhead or the dash...use your imagination and it can be done fairly cheap, it just takes time. I do that kind of stuff all of the time w/ sub and speaker enclosures for automobiles. Let me know if you need any help.

I am very interested in learning how to custom mold pods etc. for my dash. First project is to build a throttle mounting pod to hold zero effort contols. Next will be for tab indicators and switch panel. I would really appreciate some step by step instruction in how to make these kinds of parts.

You could try the indicators that come up out of the dash.

Dave, if you buy some Melamine coated MDF(medium density fiberboard) at any home supply, you can easily build a mold. You build a female mold with the Melamine surface inside where the gel coat will go. For radiuused corners just use modeling clay. Coat the mold with release agent (PVA, poly vinyl acetate, wax and spray) and lay up the part. You will have to do a little wet sanding and polishing of the gel coat, but it will save you a bundle. This is the method that I used to do new engine hatches for my 35' Cigarette Awesome. I am using the same method to make new dashes also. I will be happy to go into more detail. Bob.
