The Dobberlin surface orbiter! I remember when he created that thing. It was back in the 80's and he converted it from a milk tanker. He did the work in his back yard and the goal was to travel around the world. Rick Dobberlin might sound familiar. He built the J2000 pro street car. It was the car that really started the prostreet craze. Front driver converted to rear drive, with a tilt up steel body, tube chassis, twin turbo, twin supercharged big block with nitrous!

It caught my eye because I remembered reading about it in (I think) Car and Driver, way back when. Amazing that it's still around...

That thing was at Fort Apache when I worked there in the winter of '94---quite an attention getter!

At the time, he was planning on circumnavigating, but I don't think that ever got accomplished. I could be wrong. Pretty awesome ALL terrain vehicle!
