Fuel Tank Selector switches
#1
I have 4 saddle tanks with a lot of plumbing and manual switchover valves. I may try to connect 1 Holley marine electric fuel pump to each tank, with check valves on the discharge side. I could then select tanks by simply running the pump I want. Has anyone tried this, instead of the selector valve I've seen???
This would eliminate a LOT of hoses, etc. and also give me redundant fuel pumps.
Thanks in advance

Your check valves will be the problem. If one leaks, you'll pump the contents of one tank into it. Not really reliable enough. If all the tanks are full and you have a leaking check valve, you might overfill the tank on the leaky valve and be dumping fuel thru the overflow into the water around the boat. If you're idling around docks, you'll end up surrounded by gas and if there's a smoker nearby you'll have second thoughts about this shortcut.
Functionally, I don't know why a Ford truck tank selector solenoid can't be used. I know it's not USCG approved, but they've proven to be reliable in the automotive world...
