Removing a Bravo 1 outdrive for paint

I would like to remove my Bravo 1 outdrive for painting, what are the steps and any tricks of the trade for removing and reinstalling it later? I plan on painting it ( again). I used the Merc 3 step system before but it mostly pealed off, perhaps a different primer like a zink based. Any good experiences with any systems and or steps for painting aluminum outdrives and K planes. First I have to remove the grass growth from last year.
Thanks for your expert opinions.

I have never had any success painting my drives with the Merc spray paint, no matter what type of primer or prep I used. Looks great when finished, but after couple of times to the lake, the paint starts turning whitish and peels off just like your did. Luckly I hit a rock reef and tore my lower up and replaced with new. Not sure I would recommend that route.
Be sure to remove the speedo tube before removing drive. Rest is basic, disconnect trim cyls from drive end, remove 6 nuts, place in reverse,or forward (I forget which) and pull off.
