Is the gear ratio identifed on the drive anywhere or is it part of the serial number ?

Originally there was a sticker on your drive with the gear ratio on it,,, it may be gone or painted over by now.
It should be on the cavitation plate.

No sticker, in fact the drives are stripped. Guess I'll try the mark the shaft, turn the shaft routine. I'm sort of sure they are 1- 1.5 but not positive.

Keep turnin till the propshaft turns ten full times. However many input shaft turns is your ratio (15 turns is 1.5, almost 14 turns is 1.36)
