Does a small block oil pump fit on a big block as well? I rebuilt my 454 last year and was going through receipts for parts and found out that the parts shop gave me a small block pump. It was a new Melling high volume that never developed more than 40 psi in oil pressure. I am just curious to know if the pump would fit on the boss???

The pump will fit on the boss, but is not large enough to really supply a big block and the oil screen will be a problem, possibly the drive shaft. I have put BBC pumps on SBC, but NEVER the other way around.

What part # was the pump?
