Default Paint for gauge rims

I want to paint the rims of my old gauges to match the Gaffrig ones I just bought. What type of paint should I use? Looks like Livorsi used enamel to me. I was thinking of using PPG base/clear but that may be overkill. Any recommendations?

Livorsi powder coats the gauge rims cause they would crack when put on the gauge its self.....they have the rims off the gauges and install them on an as needed basis.
I think as long as its good quality paint you should be ok either way.
