33 Outlaw Help!!
#1
Hey guys can you give me any advice on where to start with props for my 2000 33 outlaw with stock 500hp's. I repowered from 7.4L to these engines so my 23 mirage plus props will not be any use to me.
Also what is your opinion on three blade vs four blade (mirage plus vs bravo1) for this particular setup?
Thanks guys and have a safe boating season.

I would try 25p mirage plus.
I have a friend with a 99' 33
w/ 415's he turns them 46-4700
rpm, he also has 24p bravo 1's
they spin up to 5k,
put the boat is 3 mph faster
with the 3 blades.
just my .02

FYI, i run 26P (actually 25-25.5) labbed bravo 1's on my 33' w/ 502MPI. i'm on the rev limiters w/ 24P labbed bravo 1's. if i were you, i would start out with 26P non labbed and see where that puts you. when it comes to dialing it in, each boat is different......

I agree with the kid.
Try 26 pitch to start 4-blade. I have learned that the 500's have to be turned up to 5300 to 5400 to get the max out of them. The rev limiters are at 5450 from what I understand.
Good luck

I have a '99 33 with HP500s (carb).
Last season I ran 24P B1s. Top speed (gps) around 74 @5200. (my rev limiter kicks in round 5200). Great hole shot and handling. I believe the boat came from Baja with 25P Mirages, but I've heard they're a little tougher to get on plan and blow out, although maybe a couple more MPH on the top. I'm more concerned with the overall performance than top-end.
I tried 28s and they were dogs. Couldn't get much more than 4600 out of them and a 68 mph top speed.
I was going to go to labed 26 B1s, but Darin (Houston Prop) said he could re-work the 24s. He's got them now. Based on the weather up here, I probably won't be able to try them out till the end of May
If I was starting from scratch, I'd probably start with the 26 B1s and once I got a baseline, get them labed.

3 blade vs. 4 Blade. That question really can only be answered by you. When running a 4 Blade you will have more control of the boat in 2-3 footers. When utilizing a set of 3 blades you gain speed but the boat will get a little squirrely. I have a 29 Outlae with 496 mags. I have a set of both 3 & 4 blades. The 3 blades started as 24p. I sent them to Mercury and the labbed them. Now they are 27p, WOW! With those props on 1 ft chop My boat will run 73.8 on GPS. The four blades are 26p and on the same exact conditions they run 70.3 on GPS. BUT...the boat feels tighter in the back end. Good Luck.

Your boat would have been shipped with 25p mirage plus's. Your x dimension is low enough so that you wouldn't notice much difference in handling as compared to a bravo 1. You will be faster with the 3 blade by as much as 4 mph. Myself and the wife actually thought our 33 rode much better in the rough water with the 3 blades vs the 4 blades. You might have to test some to see what works best for you.
