OT: We are in downtown Baghdad NOW!!
Get to a TV quick!!!
We (Marines) are outside the hotel where the journalists are staying in Baghdad.
M1 tanks everywhere!!!
Cheering civilians, shoe throwing protesters in front of a very large statue of Sadam. The shoes are being thrown at the statue, not at troops.
Iraqi propaganda minister is nowhere in sight today. Iraqi military command has broken down.
What a sight!!!!
BTW I know this belongs in Current Affairs. I thought this needed to to be seen ASAP.

The scenes of the citizens trying to tear down a 40' statue of Sadam is incredible.
These people are doing things today they could only dream of doing yesterday.
And then there's those idiot human shields carrying a banner saying "GO HOME U.S. WANKERS".
That pissed me off!!

Hate to cross-post, but...
...I put this up in "Current Affairs" this morning. Thought that it seemed pretty ironic if this is all true:
"Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf continued to insist that coalition forces were losing the war and dismissed a question about whether Iraq would surrender.
“The commandos are getting ready to wipe them out,” he said. “All is under control.”"
Personally, I think that he misinterpreted the question....

The report is that Sadam is holed up in the Russian Embassy.
Russians deny it.
The Minister of Information is still denying we're in Baghdad.
We are in control of the Iraqi Secret Police headquarters. They say it's the most feared place in Iraq.
