Question Best credit card for getting free stuff???

We have been using a Visa Rewards credit card for several years and have been getting a free hotel room for every 5,000 pts. You can get flights, car rentals and so on….. Well, the point system is going up to 7,500pts. Pretty much 50% more for everything….

So it’s time to find a card that gives us a better deal. What is everyone else using???

That still sounds pretty good.

Also, the usage volume of the card versus the annual fees will affect how "economical" it is.

The AmEx program gives the most flexibility, AND can collect points from "all" of your cards (spouse card, business cards, etc.). It is an expensive program, though, at $50-75 per card Plus $10-25 per year program fee.

Marriott Rewards gives a free room at a Level1 (Fairfield Inn) at around $7,500 points. These points can be transferred from the AmEx program at one point per dollar OR can be earned within the Marriott organization at 10 points per dollar spent @ a Marriott property. (I always try to stay at a Marriott property cause I like this program).

Amalgamated Bank offers a $50/year card that earns points 1:1 with dollars spent. It gives a continental US plane ticket for $16,000 points.

Sounds like Visa Rewards is adjusting to more of the "norm".

Also beware of cards that offer more points if you carry a balance. They are never a good deal.

Default Marriott Rewards

It's a good card and you get free nights. I also have a Northwest Visa because in Detroit they control 70% of the flights.

lastyear my dad saved up enough frequent flier miles for a round tirp ticket to france on the concord. I think he has an amex i know he gets miles for every charge thats made.

That must have been a TON of miles though. he still won't say how many it took.
