Default What size prop's

I'm purchasing a 33' Outlaw and I can tell them what prop's to send, so I wanted to see what prop's were giving the best speeds with 496 HO's. I was reading the other day that 3 blades were supposed to be the best for top end but I need to know what size pitch.

Most 33's I've seen have been coming with the 26" Bravo I. That is what mine was delivered with. I've heard that since they raised the X in 2002 that this prop helps out quite a bit when getting on plane. However I would be open to a spare set of props if 3 blades could be a bit stronger on top end.

I guess I just start with what Baja sends and hopefully the dealer will let me practice.

SR-24,

I've got a 33' with HP500s. I've been running 24P B1s with a top speed of around 74 (full load GPS) at 5200. Excellent hole shot and handling. I tried 28 B1s and couldn't get much above the high 60s and 4800. I've got my 24s with Darin now. My next try will be 26 B1s as well, depending on how my old props turn out.

If you want to go with B1s, IMHO, labbed 26s will probably be best. Mirages, probably 27s.

The 3 blades are hell to get on plane with the new X, the best props for 496's ho or not are stock 26's or labbed 28's

I'd agree with Liquid on the Mirages. With B1s, my boat snaps on plane with very little bow rise, and can stay on plane at around 18 mph without tabs. Mirages will probably give you a couple of more mph on the top end. So, I think its really a matter of personal preference. I like the overall performance of the B1s.

I think the Mirage + is fine on pre 02 but 02 and newer the X is just to high

Thanks guys. I will see how the 26's do and also talk with Darin and see what he would like to try.

hey guys explain to me why 27 mirages+ will blow out on my 00 33 outlaw and not 25 mirages. I cannot take off slow enough to keep from cavitating. There isn't that much difference between the mirage + and mirage is there? Rev limiters with the 25's and 5000 rpm with the 27's. 500HP carbed motors. Am I going to need 4 blades?
