Trim actuators
#1
Putting mechanical trim indicators on. What is the best kind of actuators to use? Is it true that some types are not accurate? I would like to use the type that clamp to the trim rams. Who makes the best of this type?
Thanks

You can get ones made by merc they work good but Gaffrig ( http://www.livorsi.com/ ) and Blue water ( http://www.bluewaterperformance.com/ )offer good ones too.

Stainless Marine makes ones with springs in the indicator panel, suppose to eliminate all slack. A bit more money but nice stuff and good services. Oh plus the indicator is a led light kinda cool and the cables are very flexible. I just installed a set and I like them

let us know what you end up buying and how much $$ if you
don' t mind...
i'm working on a "poor man's" indicator system. new trim sender pucks on the drive pivots, and two $30 2 1/8" LED readout digital voltmeters that fit in place of the merc meters on the helm.
large numbers with .1 volt accuracy. just learn what number (i.e. voltage from 0-14) gets you rough water hot spot and smooth water top speed positions liek the mechanical bars.

thanks
I talked to Bluewater they are on a two week backorder but seem to have a better price than most, 150 each. I just don't like the lever type that is afford by Gaffrig it seems that they could be damaged to easy. At 193 each for two stamped pieces of metal, thats out of hand. I am trying to find the merc units now..
