Question OPA, APBA, SBI insurance questions?

Someone please educate me.... what exactly does the insurance cover? One of the things that I am always hearing is how expensive it is but I have never heard what it covers. With the recent horrible death on the curcuit the question came into my mind. Does it cover the participants if something goes wrong? If it does.....how much? Just curious about what is covered by the tens of thousands it costs a year to have insurance? Thanks, Qball

Liability to spectators, property (non-racer) and event producers.

in a nutshell, Flashwave pretty well spelled it out.
To bring a race to any venue, you must present a current certificate of insurance. Spectators, producers, and all affiliates of the venue and government, must be protected incase of an accident on the course, drypits and wet pits. Participants in the race are not protected for their equipment if involved in an accident. its up to the individual participants to protect themselves. Im not sure if we, as racers are covered if we are involved in a accident that may have been caused by another team.

Thats my understanding of what the insurance covers. Im sure a rep from OPA or NJ offshore will chime in to explain anything that I may have left out.

Rest assured, that there are no secrets, and you will get a response. Yesterday, (Saturday,) was a busy day for most of our fearless leaders and your post just went up Friday night.

Be patient and your question will be answered.

thanks

Default Race Insurance-Team, Race Site, Sponsor

The questions you are asking are all valid and I can assure you that you will have the answers.

Each Team, Racer & Participant have a different venues as respects to Race Insurance Requirements.

However, each sanctioning body, at each Race Site may have different limits of liability, race member benefits, participant to participant limitations, Aircraft Non-Ownership limitations, etc.

My suggestion to all:

Contact me, Rick Felsen at 516-466-9760 if you Race APBA Offshore, LLC National Series & or/Divisional Series..

or, if not affiliated, and you wish to just ask a question....I have the time to talk to all racers, promoters, sponsors, etc.

Hawk Race Consultants, Ltd. Hawk [email protected]

I presently write coverage for many different Race Divisions, plus teams and poker runs......

As a 20 year veteran throttleman/owner of High Risk #171, I can hopefully relate to any problems that you may have and clear them up quickly as respects to Insurance..
