Default Chevy Big Block Water Pump to bypass

What are the advantages and disadvantages of eliminating a stock water pump on a Chevy Big Block and installing bypass tubes and thermostat housings on twins? And would you suggest using thermostats or not?

Just went through this. It is a pain. Do a search on Dump Valves and you will get an idea what you are in for. Unless you are running a blower I would leave well enough alone.

What year and type motor s???I'veseen this done on a dyno and it added about 14 h.p. to the 500 h.p. and it was simple and a quick change to do ,he said it gave better water flow which sounds hard to beleive but he said it took the pump out of the way of the pressure water from the sea water pump and stoped air pockets ????

Leave it alone. The stock circ pump adds just enough restriction to the system so that you won't have water pressure or temp problems.
