Default Hydraulic Steering Install

XS Marine Steering system .
The helm was anothe story
Well I got my full to the helm steering system yester day
Cylinders and transom went on in about 2 1/2 hours and I was taking my time
The hose
s from helm to transom we a piece of cake (interior is out of boat)
I spent two hours relocatin a ground bus bar and a power fuse block
I knockd loose the fuse block just so I could fit the helm
The helm then droppd right in
The fuse block had glass fuse and I am going to upgrade that today to a auto fuse type;
Thanks to John and Brian for a great system at a geat price

same idea I had
hang the bottle from that lip
Is the bottom supported any or is it just hung from the lip
I am going to fab a plate to hold tank and filter and mount from lip on starbord side close to front of engine compartment
I will check out your location an see if that might work

thanks

Klaw, That sure is a nice location. I'm curious to know if its supported on the bottom as well. I mounted mine against the transom center of the starboard engine. Rarely I never need to fill up the resevoir unless I bleed the system. In that case I use the top of a gear lube bottle screwing it onto a atf can.

This is a "test" fit, I am making a bracket that will bolt top & bottom. Also, I have a backing plate that is about twice the width of the top bracket....When done the hose will run between the
valve covers & manifolds.
I looked at mounting it on the side but there is no way to not have tnhe hose hanging from the motor over....

Thats a good point about the hose runs
I have a stainless bottle about the same size as your
I am going to the weld shop an have them rotate it 90 degrees and mount it where you put your
I will fab a mounting bracket like you are thinking making it long so I can also mount to the transom and there would also be room for the high pressue filter.
How many horsepower are thaose puppys and how fast do you run.
The 500 HPs I bought are in for rebuild and were are shooting fo 575
