Got my lift installed and all adjusted. Works great, except for the loading part.

When the lift is submerged and boat is positioned over it to be raised, I can only open both valves slightly to fill with air once it starts raising. Otherwise, If I open the valves fully, the lift comes FLYING at mach1 speeds up to the surface until it makes contact with the boat bottom. Kaboom!

Is this just the nature of the beast and we have to just crack the valves to slowly raise the tanks up from the lowered postion??

I am a new Hydro-hoist user but have not noticed any crashing into the bottom. Is yours a B model?

I have the same setup. Mine is about a year old and it does the exact same thing. I now open the valves half way until there is contact with the boat. If you find out anything else, keep me posted. Mine has been this way since I got it.

Mine does the same thing, but my hoist is adjusted (with the chains) so it does not drop any further than necessary. So when it does come up it only moves a short distance until contact with bottom.

The trick is getting the chains properly adjusted and close the valves when the lift goes down. If you leave the valves open(and I'm guilty of that) there is a more violent initial lift than if you had closed the valves once the boat floats free.

Actually mine is a Galva Lift. Same thing though, just not as well known.

I have the back in option. It drops lower to allow clearance for the drives. My swing arms are 7' in length which allows the highest bunk to be up to 5' under water level. My chains are set at 4' deep now. That raises( no pun intended) another conscern. Once it is lowered enough to float my boat, I also close the valves some to keep it from droppping to the chain stops. When it drops fast, it really bounces the dock down.
SO it appears that we need to just feather the valves when raising and lowering to keep the lift speed in check??
