Default Rebuilding/Tuning Holley 4010

Well I broke down and bought a Holley 4010 carb used. I was wondering if anyone had any good recomendations on good EASY TO USE Carburetor handbooks for this carb...What is the difference between this carb and lets say a 4150 or 4160...Im VERY rusty on Holley's. Not that I knew alot back when but Im sure I forgot almost everything I knew. Except the fact the powervalves go everytime you get a backfire.....Here is a pic of the carb it is a 750 vac sec.

A hundred years ago I bought a book from S-A design books called Volume 1-carbs: Holley Carburetors, written by Dave Emanuel. I use it as a bible for holley carbs, hope that helps. I dont know if it is still available.

Good luck

I bought the other one that Glenn had for sale. Maybe we can toss ideas back and forth. What motor are you running.? I'm gonna slap it on and see what happens first, and go from there.........I've got a modded 330hp 454 with large oval port heads, 454HO cam, Edelbrock performer rpm intake, and gil exhaust. I'm gonna read up on the holley also, not my thang either. I've always been a Q-jet fan, but I thought i would see what all the hype about holley's is about........

Mad-Ive got a 358SBC roller motor pushing about 375hp@5300. I was running a Edelbrock. I ordered a Hp book on the 4010 and a trick-kit and jet kit from jegs. I think Im also going to start with the stock jets and work from there. I sent an E-mail to Holley about a recomendation for my app but I havent' heard back yet. Im thinking I might have to tinker a little because Im pretty sure these were for 330 or 365hp 7.4 motors...Let me know when you start getting it going....

Hey CRmax........

I'm turning a 25 pitch mirage plus at around 4650, maybe even 4700, my tach is a lil screwy. Best GPS was 68.8. I put a 454 mag module in it to bump up the rev limiter. I've got the weber carb so dicked up by now trying to get it jetted right, i'm giving up. It's originally came with 3-step rods and jets in it, and i've put 2-step rods and jets in it because that's all they make with any variety. It doesn't work very well cause the 3-step plungers have small springs on them that the 2-step rods don't, and gas just seems to dump down it. I decided to pick up a 750 holley of this board and see how bad i can screw it up also...

I don't get it till tuesday. I'll prob leave it alone and see what happens. If the engine blows, i'll just tell the wife it's time for an hp500.!
