Default A couple of questons about 24 Outlaw fuel cell...

Ayone know how far out the fuel cell goes from port to starboard uder the floor panel??

As some of you may know I've had issues with the far starboard bolster bolts on my boat. I've used the liquid metal stuff that Doc Holiday sent me. That stuff works really well but when I hit reall rough water (especially side to side wakes) the bolts come loose or strip out again.

So it is probably time to finally just put through bolts in to mount the seat. However, you cant access the bottom side of the bolts through the current access panels in the center of the floor board. So I'm going to buy one of those 6" round access panels (cheap, 8 bucks!!) and put it behind the driver seat where the bolster hangs down as to not get in the way.

My question is, if I drill the hole in this location will the fuel cell get in the way?? Does it extend out that far?? I remember someone has already done this. Hopefully someone can help. Thanks in advance.

Default Fuel cell

Hey Tank,
I just recently pulled my interior out to install Lonseal flooring, the Tank goes the full length from under the back seat all the way up to the dash/cabin access and is the width of the centre floor board. Each section under the seat has a ton of foam pumped in there. You will have no problem cutting in there, just have to remove the foam. I have more pics if you need.
Have fun
John

Thanks John, that answers my question. I was just worried about drilling out the hole to put the access panel in and popping a hole in the fuel cell. But it appears to not be an issue.

Looks like you have quite the job ahead of you bro. Make sure you through bolt those seats while you have the chance!!

Thanks again.

Default Fuel Cell

Tank,
You won't hit any thing, maybe a holesaw would work well for this job. Yeah my floor turned out great, but my new HP 500 motor that I installed took a **** in the 1st hour. Hopefully the machine shop will have it together tomorrow.

Allan,

I have been known to farm out my dong to a couple of fine honies! Unlike you.....sheep farmer!

John,

Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to do this this weekend. The liquid metal stuff worked really well but it really is just a temporary fix and needs to just be bolted down correctly. I've just been procrastinating Sorry to hear about the 500. was it new?? Those HP500's are usually bullet proof. What happened?

Bajaboat and I (mostly him...infact, all him) put in the little toggler thingeys I got from West Marine. They are cheap peices of s*** but they definitely have the bolster secured to the floor. It is just a matter of for how long, but that thing is rock solid with them installed....it only took all afternoon because it looks like they were made in a Kindergarten class......

Hope they hold up!!!!

Tank....not bad, not bad at all.........

Okay, break time is over, get back to hosing out the dumpsters in the back lot.....

I've had my tank out twice. Leaks! It was awful. The tank is also about 6" LOWER than the floor. You have some room to spare when you cut holes. I also had to add on of the 6" round access plates to my floor so I could thru bolt my bolsters. I put mine between the seats, dead center. Worked well. The picture Johno postes looks WAY too familiar. I too have this same picture!!!!

We talked about this on another thread here in Baja land a few months back. Let me dig it up and I will post a link to the West Marine page. They are crappy little $0.30 parts that they charge 8 freaking bucks for, but I think they might actually work.

Total pain in the yars to install....that's why I had Bajaboat do it for me...and becuase that is his seat for the weekend...

I'll dig up the link........douche breath.
