Default WOO-HOO! Virginia Fuels Tax Refund Check

Saving all those receipts for filling up the boat at roadside gas stations does pay off. The paperwork was easy. $.175 on the gallon does add up a bit.

$102 ain't too shabby.

Not sure Dean. This is to reimburse for taxes you pay on fuel purchased at roadside gas stations, which part of the tax is actually road and infrastructure supporting. You can even write up your lawn and farm equipment in VA.

Dean, I already looked into it. Florida does not participate in this kind of thing. It would be nice, though.

Sydwayz, 1275 gallons! Not bad.
How do you prove it's for your boat or car...Get my drift?
Throw in a few car fuel bills once in a while and you're all set.

Did the amount per gallon go down since last year? It was 17.5 cents per gallon last year.

Craig223,
You are absolutely right. It is $.175 / gallon. I corrected my first post. Total Gallons in the last 12 months was 584.xxx.

BD,
Yes, you could sneak in a few gas receipts for the car/truck if you wanted to; but that would ruin it for everyone eventually. Don't get me wrong, it would be easy to do, but I also have to pass my polygraph test every few years too.

I thought (orginially) you had to purchase the gas at a marina for it to qualify. But I just re-read the form and it says a "Virginia dealer." I guess that could be interpreted to mean on land as well. Now that I know you are getting away with on-land fuel, we will be sure to fill up in VA on the way to the Richmond and Hampton Roads poker runs. I would have to say over the past three years or so, I have gotten back almost $1000.

I got back over $400 last year. That's like free beer for the summer!!! I have to tow about 3 miles from where I keep the boat to the gas station, but it is worth it because of the savings and the fuel quality.
