Question Best Prop for 24 ft. V-Bottom?

I own a 1999 Challenger Offshore SV-24 with a slightly modified 496 Mag HO putting out 445 pshp. I am currently running a 24P Bravo 1 at 4600-4700 rpm and about 66-67 mph. It has an absolutely terrible hole shot and I think that 66 mph is also terrible. I can't get much trim with this particular set up and it feels as though the boat is glued to the water. This boat actually measures 22'8" centerline and has a 24 deg. entry leading to a pad bottom with no steps. Originally, I believe the boat came with a Mirage Plus, but I swapped for the bravo 1 instead, having good luck in the past with the bravo 1. Would this boat free up and get more lift with a mirage plus vs. the bravo 1? It just feels so glued down. This boat should easily be in the lower to mid 70's with this power package. Any prop suggestions would be great. Brand? Pitch? 3 or 4 Blades? I just need some lift and about 5000rpm at WOT.

Thanks,

Harper220

I would go with a mirage plus in a 25 pitch, your boat has the drive set on the deep side[low X] so a three blade would work well for more speed, 5000rpm should get you 72mph

I think that H2Xmark is ON the mark. Maybe even an earlier "Mirage"only, not plus. They had a tad more bow lift with my 25' Martini. Ask Darrin at HOUSTON PROPS. He knows. --- Jer

H2Xmark, I had a hunch that's why they propped this boat with a Mirage out of the factory. How about my hole shot, will the Mirage help out and keep the bow down for quicker plane time? Do you really think I could turn a 25p Mirage up to 5000 rpm? Remember, I'm only turning the Bravo 1 24p @ 4700 rpm. That would be great if I could. Another bit of info regarding the x-dimension. I straight edged the pad bottom with the cavitation plate and the cav plate was roughly 1 3/4" above. Isn't that ideal? Or is that considered a low X-dim? Thanks for the info.

I have a 24 Superboat with 385 HP and run a 26" Bravo 1. I can run maybe 1 mph faster with a Mirage + but I chine walk all over the place and the prop blows out in rough water. Hope this helps.

What's been done to the motor to account for the extra HP? I would think that you should be able to spin a 25 mirage+ with that combo.

I have a 25' Shockwave Tremor with a 24 degree bottom and a single conservative step. Also running a bone stock 496HO.

I run two different props

I run a 23P rev-4 and get 69-70mph at 5,100 rpm

A labbed 25P Mirage Plus 3 blade and get 72-73 mph at 4,900 rpm. I use this with only light loads and for top end run days.

You might give a Rev-4 a shot. Its a good all around prop

I'll trade you a 25p Mirage plus for your 24p Bravo I.
I have a straight 24° V Superboat. The Mirage is faster but the Bravo is more stable...
