My OEM Merc manifolds are in need of replacement.
Here's the question:
Will manifolds from a 7.4l fit the 502MPI? Do all the cable/mounts line up? Are they the same part number?
I'd think the ports would be smaller, but I could be wrong...

I think they are the same. I had a 95 7.4 and it had the same manifolds as my 99 502 Mag MPI.

I would change to aftermarket like Imco, Eddie, or Stainless Marine manifolds before I went back to stock. There are some used stock manifolds for sale cheap on here though.

Oh, I'd certainly rather change to Satinless or something like that.. However, cash is a big factor for me. And, the boat is a twin, so everything is "times two"... We have to pull one of the engines just to do the job!!!

Good exhausts will cost $4500.. Used ones like what Too Old has are going for $300 for both engines...

The manifolds will work,
there are some different risers though,
the early 90's were stainless, some of the
oil filter mounting points may be different.

There aluminum headers come in black or polished and are much cheaper than the others listed. Mind you though they are cheaper only in price not quality. They are new and trying to make a name for themselves and get there products out to the consumers.

tim g. i just orderede a set of the polished rev. marine manifolds and risers and wil let you know how they look and work when i get them.

There's also Schneider marine in Illinois. I dealt with Steve on my Eddie Marine Thunders and he definitely did me right. Cheaper than I could have bought them from Eddie myself and a great guy to deal with. Ordered from him and they were drop-shipped straight to my house from Eddie. I realize you're trying to save cash but let me tell you a little story. After 2 sets of stock manifolds on my Formula (that's right, 4 manifolds being changed twice) in 2 years, and the complete destruction of one set of heads from an internal water leak between the manifold and riser, I cut my losses and went with the EMIs. Got them for $1550 a set even with the 3" extended stainless risers. Just be careful what you buy and make sure to use good gaskets.

I found what seems to be a deal on EMI Thunder. I can ave them for $1050 per set, which use my hose instead of pipe to the transom. Or $1530 for the set with the pipe to the transom. UPS in another $60 per engine.

The fine people at Stainless Marine are working up a set up for me... We'll see what the come up with. And, I'll let you know.

Your not gonna see too much improvment with cast alum headers plus there gonna corrode out for sure in salt water. Couple of years max, even if you take care of them. By the cheapo stockers for now and save up for stainless. The only way to go!!! reversion from leaks will cost more then the pipes.

I just re read your post...for that kind of money (1700 bucks a set) your only a couple of hun shy for CMI stainless...thats a no brainer. You can drive down here and pick em up..so no shipping, just sales tax
