Had an eventfull weekend, trailered the boat to manistee, stopped to eat 70 miles away and
noticed the trailer tire was about to fall off.
Auto repair shop across the street, whoops
closed till mon. this is noon on fri.
Called tim at eagle to tell him of my problem.
He said I am supposed to hand pack these twice
a year as my owners manual states ( I never
received one because the trailer was made wrong
and had to be altered to fit the boat, it was delivered
to nat marine not to me) He said I could download
it from the internet if I wanted, gee this is helpful.
He did tell me the part numbers and said with some
tools and skill I could fix it on the side of the road.
Nice, I took off the tire and 3 legged it, fun.
Got to manistee, tire shop, nice people, too far
gone for them. Found local guy Paul Adamski who
was able to fix it, and didn't take advantage of the
situation. Great small town hospitality. He repacked
the other three, they were fine. He said this one was
probably never greased properly since it was a rusty
broken mess. Thanks for listening. And thanks to Tim

How is the boating there in Manistee? Are the launches adequate up to 38'? I'm just curious why you chose to go to Manistee for your boating---thanks.

every year I tear down all 4 hubs inspect bearings and races, replace any that are pitted or ruff, put new seals
and repack always worth the 20 bucks for grease seals and new grease. Have yet to get stuck on the side of the road with anything other than a flat.

Because were compulsive gamblers and theres a
casino there. We planned on running north but
the trailer and weather didn't cooperate.
We went from manistee to portage lake and it
took 30 mins to go 8 miles, 4-6 footers plus.
We actually turned around the first time after
dipping the nose and watching a 35 footer almost
roll over. JC

I do all my wheel bearings as part of my winterizing ritual. That way I have clean , moisture free greese in there all winter. The only time in the past 15 years I didn't...I lost a wheel on the ramp early the following season

sounds like racing at Eastlake. Gotta love it. Try comin home from the Bahamas in that chit every weekend loaded down with fish.

Don't feel bad, I lost my entire rear axle assembly after renting a slip for three days (race week) so luckily boat was not on trailer. Didn't know it was gone till I got home. Ramp 1.5 miles away. Never found anything. Look in the Formula owners forum under wheels/axle/mess for whole lousy story.
