It's been so long since i saw motors together that i now forget where the 1/2 nipple off the top of the water pump runs to. On some I know this goes into the T-stat housing, but my T-stat housing only has 2 large hoses, and the 2 small hoses that feed the exhaust. Can I just plug this off?? although it will look like hell.

It goes into the intake manifold crossover - and isn't it 3/4 inch.

yes you were right it was 3/4 inch, I just unscrewed the nipples and plugged them. Is this alright-- I was told it was??

You can do that -- I drilled and taped my intake and installed the bypass hose.

Nipples, and here I thought maybe you posted in the wrong section LOL
