Smile buy newor rebuild old engines

Need some opinions here. I want to up the power in my 311 SR1. Should I go with buying all new engines, or work with what I have (98' 454/365). Would prefer not to go with blowers, I like the idea of natural aspiration. Am looking for 550 - 600 horsepower. Innovation Marine is right here in sunny (liquid right now) Sarasota and I've heard they do real good work. Reliability is a MUST. Can't afford to rebuild motors every 75 hours. What do all you "gear heads" think.

Since the 454 mag has all the heavy duty bottom parts, I'd refresh the bearings and rings and put a Pro Charger on it. It's far and way the most cost effective way to make the horses you want.

I was afraid you were gonna say that. I have looked at Pro Chargers a lot and am starting to lean that way. I'm just a carb kind of guy. but you are right.
