Latham on a 292
#1
I have an option to buy 2 different new stocked 292's, or even ordering one for that matter.
One has Latham steering & the other not. 7k option?
Both boats have the twin 6.2's & one particular dealer says "you gotta have the Latham steering"."it's a SAFETY issue"...How mandatory is the Latham, I know that later in life when it's Whipple time the Latham is the ticket when the speed kicks in, but how about NOW in stock form?
Whaddaya think?
Thanks.

Unnessasary on 350 Mags,Standard on 377's,optional on 6.2's. Tough call, a 6.2 boat is fine with regular steering, but better with Lathum. If you plan to modify the motors later,go with Lathum. If you find a good deal on one without Lathum, go for it,Formula is very conservative and if they thought it was needed it would be standard.

Get the boat and add the steering later. You can put steering on your boat for probably in the high 4-low 5,000 buck range so see if you can get them to discount on those numbers.
