Default Help,, trimming a 38 fountain ??

A friend of mine has a 38 SC Fountain .Small blown 510's with bravos and 4 blade bravo 1 props . He didn't gain much speed at all after upgrading from 502's. I know he has to be trimming it wrong . I am very familiar with trimming boats for high speed but I haven't driven his yet . I plan to this weekend .

He says it has a sweet spot at about 6 on the drive indicators with the tabs flat . Thats how he always runs it . I know it needs more .

MY question is ,Where is "6"? And where do you run big fountains at 70+ mph ? Of course I will have the answer on my own by Sunday ,MY SECOND TIME ON THE WATER THIS YEAR !! THANKS ,JOE

The best way to trim a Fountian is to cut the beek off Another would be to cut the beek and the swim platform off. I say trim it until it blows out and bring it back. 502 to 510 would not make a huge difference I would think.

If I remember an old post of boot's, this Fountain may have actually had it's beak cut off. Well, actually, cut in half.
Is this that same boat?

Rainmn, Your right , should have left that dam beek in the water instead of crazy glueing it back on !

Mitch , I know how to trim , I just wondered what numbers the beak guys run at what speed !

Thanks !

Hi-perf, Don't worry , I WILL get you that ride and more ! Things are getting streched pretty far right now time wise ! House ,motor home, boatS ...... I have to finish the house and motor home before the winter . Boat will be ready the first warm day in spring !

Fountain HAD 502's , with 23 mirage ,ran high 60's.
Now has 510's with merlin heads , 250 blowers etc., and and runs around 70 with 4 blade bravo 24's .........

Something is lacking ..........

He did say 38SC. Those sport cruisers weight as much as a small house. And the have all the same amenities.
