I remember reading on the board a few months ago that Douglas Marine had bought the molds of a large cat (50+ feet) from either Airborne Marine or Ocean Express (I can't remember which) and was going to be building a new Skater model using the molds. I remember that the thread mentioned the new boat would offer an alternative to customers looking to move up from the 46s who now are looking at the big Nor-Tech, the wide body Jaguar and a few others.
What ever happened with that project? Does anyone know? Just wondering. Sounded like a pretty cool boat.

Where is T2x when we need him???? He'll surely know the answer. So, we'll wait until he informs us. Perhaps it can be the start of new thread...MANUFACTURERS WHO BUY OR BUILD THEIR OWN MOLDS (ie. the non-splashers)!!!

Think of Douglas Marine as a composites shop.
Peter has made Skaters, Fountains, Cigarettes, Platinums, Airbornes, and Hydroplane parts.
I wish Peter would make an Apache(Cigarette splash, whatever) replica. That would put and end to this Apache propaganda.

It was in a Skater Mag. ad(pwerboat, Hot Boat, can't remember), but it was the Airborne 53 molds. That's gonna be big, FAST mother.
