Default 242 Bow Leak

I have a 88 242 and am getting water in the cabin.
It is pooling in the locker that contains the fresh water
canister, when that overflows onto the cabin floor.

The most likely place I can estimate the water to be
coming from is the pee hole in the bow area of the hull.
ANyone know what this hole is for? I have only a hole there no plastic gismo to shield or cover it.

Anyone know what is is supposed to drain from.
Anyone have any other ideas??

Thanks in advance

Ray

I had one in my 272. I had thought the previous owner put it in to drain water that may have one time leaked in from above, like the bow light or cleat. I took some caulk (4200, I think) and stuck a stainless clamshell over it facing back and down, about 8:00 position-wise and never had a problem with it again.

There was a thread on this topic in the past, nobody really knew what that hole was for. We contacted Formula and,,,,,believe it or not,,,,,,,,,,its a drain hole for that locker area that was intended to be an anchor locker!!!! Now, nobody is going to drag an anchor through the cabin and under the cushions to get to that locker, but that was the official answer.

Mine leaked also, usually only when running in big water. The waves would force water in the hole. As Bill272 said above, just plug the hole and forget it. It has no other purpose.

I'm the one who called Formula on this , and yes , that's the answer I got. Mine has sealer in it and has never leaked.

Thanks for all the replies on this.. Amazing that they would think someone would use this for anchor storage.

Actually I didn't plug the hole. I just put a clamshell cover over it so it could still drain if it needed to but not take on any water when I hit a wave. Looked like this...
