Default Help setting the timing on HP500EFI

Do I need to use a DDT machine to set timing?? The manual says yes, but I set it without but the timing jumps around. Does the DDT lock in the timing?? Help me out, the damn thing is all back together but needs to be timed!!

Dh-

You need to set the ecm into service mode to set the base timing. It can be done with a scan tool or by jumping some pins on the connector. I've got a scan tool that I'd be willing to loan you if you pay the shipping. You could probably do a search on timing to find out which pins to jump too.

Regards,

Mark S.

I believe you jump pins a and b to set the engine to base timing mode.

order the shunt tool from Mercury, this will only do timing if you want codes get the shunt tool from Renda or you will need the ddt or a lap top...the first is the cheapest

Mercury part # for the tool is 91-805747A 2 all it does is jump the black and white wires on the scan tool connection harness, you can do that yourself with a paper clip or wire.
