OK guys, here we go again about the boat insurance hikes!
Went from 660.00/yr. to 1028.00/yr. This is with State Farm!! Looking for better quotes and different companies.
Thanks in advance,

Sorry to hear it, Dean.
I don't want to make you feel any worse, but it's a 56% jump.

dean, your probably lucky you've only been paying 660 until now my state farm agent who is a personal friend and i've used for years won't insure me and all i have is an old boat with twin 330's. She tried then their main office said they wouldn't insure anything over 500 hp total? I ended up going with Progressive, because i was having problems finding anyone that wanted to insure it but i'm paying about $1020 per year so i'm no better off than you are. Good luck.

If you live in the Gulf, thats where they get you. I pd 4700 last year and now cant even get insurance, is that BS or what. I even have a perfect record for boating no claims or tickets, same with my driving record, last anything was when I was 17, 24 years ago.

The best I could do on a 32' Velocity was $1600/year, based on a 6 month layup!
I just upgraded my boat and was told that rates have more than doubled. Most insurance companies have dropped the performance boats... the few that are left are going to rob us blind

Guys,
Thanks, for the input. I've been talking to my state farm agent, and if I increase my deductible to 750.00, from 250.00, our premium will drop from 1028.00 to 818.00. I Guess that's where we are headed. Progressive gave me a quote of 1250.00!! AllState was about the same. My agent basically told me that State Farm wants out of the boat ins. business in Fl!!
Insurance costs across the board are SOARING, Health, boat, car, ETC. I'm definitely in the wrong business!
JASS,
We live on the east side of FL, and do 90% of our boating in the ICW. Sounds like I could have it worse, after hearing your sad situation.

Dean,
The rates are out of control. Florida, because of many reasons, 12 months of boating, high boating population, being the nation's worst state for boating accidents 3 years running, etc. is ridiculous. I know many people who pay half as much, for bigger boats elsewhere in the country. It's like the STMC is underwriting boat insurance or something....
