Merc Outboard Warranty

Trim motor on my 2002 150HP Merc outboard failed 31 Sept and the warranty expired 6July. I've heard that MERC has a problem with failed trim motors and was covering failures beyond the normal warranty period. Is anyone aware of such a hidden warranty?

give me the serial # on your motor,and i can check it for you.if they had a problem with them they are pretty good about making it right

Good news Merc is going to cover trim motor repairs under the warranty. Big Black stands by its product even after the warranty expired. Just goes to show it never hurts to ask. Thanks to Certified Marine in Port Huron for working the issue.
