I have been looking at pics of the boats but I cannot tell in what ways they are different. I have never seen either in person so what are the differences. Remember, I want 20ft or smaller.

I like the Hammer because of the engine options. The 20 Outlaw only comes with the 5.0. Where you can get the Hammer with engine configurations all the way up too the 502 Mag EFI. Although most came with the 7.4 MPI, which should make it run somewhere around 70 mph. I have not rode in the 20 Outlaw but if it rides anything like the 25 Outlaw it will probably ride better than the Hammer. I like the styling of the 20 Outlaw better, because of the flat transom, and available aluminum swim platform. You probably need to take a ride in both, to be able to make your mind up. Both are great rides, it's just which one you would perfer.

Thanks Jeff, from the pics I have seen , I prefer the outlaw as well. I will try and find some baja owners to see the boats. On my lake all the boats are ski nautiques. I have never seen so many ski nautiques in my life. Dave H

I was in your same shoes when looking for my boat. For the price, engine options and etc, I went for the hammer. At the time I was looking, I was unable to find one with a 502, so I got the next best thing, 454 mag. I like the 20 outlaw, but I just wanted something a little bigger, with a bigger motor. But it's really whatever makes you happy, if you like the 20, go for it!!

The Hammer is old school construction and I personally perfer that. I think it falls more in the catagory of true offshore style boats. It would be my first pick.

One the other hand, we have a club member with a new 20 Outlaw and he loves it! I have been impressed with how nice the boat looks in the water.

You should be able to find a real clean hammer with better power for the same or less money.

As you can see in the picture above the stringer system is all plastic and drops into the 20 Outlaw as one unit. This is how they keep the price down.

Why do people keep saying the 20 only comes with a 5.0 like its a bad thing? What more do you want out of a 20' boat? The thing is a little rocket!

But the Hammer is more of a rocket with a "BIG BLOCK"

No comparison, the hammer all the way. I've never riden in a 20 outlaw. But I've been in both. Sorry but the 20 is a cheap peice of crap. And it's not that cheap considering it has a SB/Alpha. Add the extra money that a BB/Bravo would cost and the prices are about the same. The hammer is bigger and has a usable cuddy. No comparison.
