Default Can you afford big HP? A simple test.

This is question and response from a snowmobile message board. I found it funny and a quite relevant to most HP engines.

Question:
franks ski-doo writes;

How would it cost to make a 99 formula III 800 push around the 310 horse mark in Canadian dollars i ask this question cause i want to start racing the big boys this year Thanks for the feed back my sled is just piped clutched and studded

Response:
Hillpounder responds;

first you'll need to pass this test to see if your ready:

1. go to the cash machine and take $500 out, wad it up and flush it down the toilet

2. take a new set of pistons out of the boxes and procede to burn a hole through the top of them with a torch, toss em in the garbage, get on the phone and order 2 more, just mention your name, they know which ones to send

3. take something valuable and sell it for 1/10th what you bought it for

If you can do these 3 simple things and not bat an eye, your ready!

Im going to use that one next time someone asks my what they think it will take to get there boat running over 100mph

You know you are spending too damn much on motors/parts when one of your best friends is an engine builder!!

Ya, I can flush 10 pennies down the toilet and I would still cringe.

First I flush the $500, then I have to pay $150 to have the septic tank pumped out. Now thats high performance!
