OK, be easy with me. I did one of the stupidist things ever. Even with my limited amount of mechanical knowledge, I do know how I SHOULD HAVE hooked up the battery. I got in a hurry, dropped the battery in backwards and connected the wires. When I flipped the switch past the both position I heard a "electrical" type noise and then everything was completely dead. Tried both batteries, different electrical functions and nothing. This seems like there should be a simple fix but, I cann't figure it out. Any suggestions?

Search OSO for this problem. I belive cuda went through the same thing. There is a fuseable link that you blew or a circuit breaker that has tripped. If you have a Merc engine try resetting the main breaker located somewhere on the top of the engine. If that does not fix it there may be a fusible link that is blown in the starter circuit.

Hopefully someone else can tell you the exact location of these items.

You better post the year and type of engine you have.

1990 5.7 OMC Cobra. I figure it is probably a fuse or something. Just cann't find it.

There are usually fusible links near the starter that are likely burned open(just pull on them gently and they seperate if they're blown). You likely also popped a diode in the alternator but that will show up after you get it running(do a start/charge system test).

I belive OMC uses glass inline fuse.
Should be 2 of them near the shift cable bracket on starboard side of engine by the remote starter solenoid.
One is for the engine the other for the trim,I think they are 50 amp.
