Default OT, recommendations for DVD burner?

I want to buy my parents a DVD burner for Christmas this year. I've heard that there are certain models that enable you to copy even DVD's that have the security on them.
Any suggestions and price info??
Thanks.

I just recently bought a Plextor PX-708A. Works great. There are tricks to copying dvd's and stuff, I've searched all over the place and these 2 are the easiest I've found. AnyDVD and CloneDVD. Here's how it works. AnyDVD strips off all the copyright junk and then you make a copy of the DVD with CloneDVD, it works great and makes an exact copy, with the menus and everything. I've done it about 10 times now and no problems at all. A lot of the other programs require a lot of work in order to copy a DVD, I just wanted something simple and easy.

I bought the Sony for around $800.00. The sales guy said it would do alot more than the cheaper models but I still have not figured it out. It's like the old floppy disks on a computer, you have to format before useing. Then you decide RW,RW+, RW-, RW this, and RW that !!! I spoke with Freeze Frame Jeff and he agreed that the Sony is one of the more dificult ones to use. Dave

I am also thinking of going this route instead of a dvd burner in the PC.

Stan, when you've got some good info, could you post it here?

Mine also about 250..Pioneer..AO5...There is a later model. It comes with a MYDVD creating/burning program.

I battled with Sonic (software giant) and they have fixed the problems I had.

Check it out at Pioneer..and check out the software at MYDVD..
