Default need a little computer help...

At some point I got a virus on the computer, and it added some things (porn - go figure ) to my "favorites" list and changed my home and search pages (to porn also ).

If I open IE and change the home and search pages back and delete the unwanted entries on the "favorites" list, they all come back when the computer is restarted.

I have scanned for viruses with updated virus patterns, and it is clean. Where can I find where the settings are changed on startup for IE?

Also, any info on the virus that does this would be appreciated. Thanks.

It may not be a virus. An advertising program amy have piggybacked it's way in from one of the sites you visited.
Look into Ad-Aware and Spybot, both free. These will search your drive for these things and other programs that send out your intenet viewing habbits to outside companies.
Also look into a good firewall. I have Sygate's Personal Firewall Pro and it allows me to block things like that, as long as I have the address from where it originated.

Yeah, way up here in this icy wasteland called North Louisiana we sometimes have trouble getting the doors to open, because of the snow banks that pile up against the doors. Sometimes when we run out of food or fresh water, one person is selected to go up the chimney and tunnel his way out in a last-ditch effort for survival.

BTW -- Thanks Iggy.

Anyone got any other ideas?

Another thing you can check is the items being run at startup. Look in start, programs, startup. If something is goofy in there delete it. Also go to run and type msconfig. Again look at tall the startup items it will be there somewhere.

And spy bot rules
