I was told by a Donzi rep that they are just Ski boat engines painted blue....Diff cams.....VERY expensive paint !!!
I would think you would want the "torque" of big blocks with 35 feet ?

From what your saying a bit underpowered for a boat of this size then.

are they highly tuned or basic small block normal output engines?

Might seem powerful in a 20 foot boat. It is a 350 with the 400SBC crank=377ci. Go with at least 454s in that boat.

I considered the Scorpions when repowering my Cigarette 28 and cound not justify spend the the extra $$ for the blue paint and 60 hp per side...

The 377 put out around 360 hp at the time i looked(2001) and now puts out a reported 377hp.

The standard 350 Mag MPI puts out 300 hp and in my application(7000lb boat), I was able to run 67 mph with bravo drives.

In your case, I think you're gonna need some more cubic inhes if you want some respectable speeds...

I put two scorpions in my 30SS Sonic. Huge improvement over the carb mag 350s (260 HP) that were in there before, but you will definately want more power. Best I have seen is 72 MPH, but 68 is usual top end. I have looked into supercharging these but have not done so yet.

Once they were set up right (fuel injection issues), they have not given me any trouble for the last two seasons .
